Property Management & Taxation (Commercial)
The Finance Department administers property taxes for the Nation under the First Nations Tax Commission guidelines and the Property Tax law.
Collected funds are used for various programs and projects including health, public works, economic development, housing, administration, municipal services, fire and wildlife protection and others.
As the Nation is currently in process for Addition to Reserve, the Department is preparing to add new properties for property tax collection and administration.
Band properties are managed by Lands department, as per the band lands code, and terms and conditions are set in the lease agreements.
The Nation has partnered with Northwest Properties for managing the properties held under the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre and the Discovery Crescent Shopping Centre.
