Overview
The Wei Wai Kum First Nation honors the knowledge, wisdom, and lived experience of our Elders and is committed to supporting their well-being, independence, and connection to community. The Elders Worker plays an important role in providing respectful, culturally grounded support and in creating opportunities for Elders to gather, share teachings, and build meaningful relationships with youth and with Elders from other Nations.
Elders services and supports include assistance with transportation to medical appointments and shopping, access to crafts and creative activities, wellness programs that support physical and social health, monthly lunch gatherings and special occasion meals, registration and transportation for the annual Elders Gathering, subsidized housing supports, and help with yard and lawn maintenance.
Wei Wai Kum defines Elders as members aged 65 and older. When space allows, programs are also open to members aged 60 and over.
