Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre operates two licensed Early Learning programs as an Aboriginal Head Start. These programs provide a safe, nurturing, and culturally grounded environment for young children.[1]
Our Aboriginal Head Start Programs are for children and families with Inuit, Metis and Aboriginal ancestry but priority for childcare spaces is given to Wei Wai Kum members. The Centre operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and is closed on all British Columbia statutory holidays as well as for two weeks during the Christmas season.
The goal of Kwanwatsi is to support each child’s healthy growth and development through positive, age-appropriate learning experiences. Programming is designed to be cognitively stimulating, culturally reflective, creatively enriching, socially engaging, and physically active. Most importantly, learning is delivered in a way that is joyful and fun, helping children build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
