Our Leadership & Governance
Chief and Council provide leadership and direction for Wei Wai Kum First Nation, serving the community through strong, transparent, and accountable governance. The Council consists of the Chief and seven Councillors who work together to set strategic priorities, approve laws and policies, and oversee the delivery of programs, services, and Nation-owned businesses while upholding Wei Wai Kum culture and traditions.
Guided by the Strategic Plan, Chief and Council work closely with administration, staff, and community members to advance key priorities including governance development, community lands, economic prosperity, member well-being, and the recognition of Wei Wai Kum title and rights. Council members serve four-year terms and are elected on a staggered basis, with four members elected every two years to support continuity and stability in leadership.
