K – Grade 12

The Nation is committed to supporting the educational success, well-being, and cultural identity of all Nation member students from kindergarten to Grade 12. Through the Local Education Agreement (LEA) established in partnership with School District 72, the Nation works collaboratively to ensure students have equitable access to educational opportunities, culturally responsive supports, and services that promote student achievement and lifelong learning.

The Local Education Agreement establishes a framework for collaboration, accountability, and shared responsibility between the Nation and School District 72. In accordance with the LEA, each school within the district provides Indigenous education supports through an Indigenous Education Team and an Indigenous Support Worker who work alongside school staff, families, and the Nation to promote student success.

The LEA outlines agreed-upon processes and timelines for the sharing of student information and achievement data, in compliance with applicable privacy legislation, to support informed decision-making, monitor student outcomes, and identify opportunities for early intervention and continuous improvement.

The Nation and School District 72 collaborate to ensure Nation students have equitable access to transportation, educational programming, and Indigenous language and cultural learning opportunities across all grade levels. These supports are intended to strengthen students’ sense of identity, belonging, and connection to community while enhancing educational outcomes.

Where additional academic support is required, the Education Department may coordinate individualized learning support, and referrals to appropriate educational services. The Education Department also advocates on behalf of students and families, facilitates communication between the Nation and school staff, and monitors student progress to ensure supports are responsive to individual learning needs.

The Education Department is responsible for implementing the provisions of the Local Education Agreement, fostering collaborative relationships with educational partners, and ensuring that Nation students receive coordinated, culturally safe, and equitable educational supports that contribute to their academic success and personal well-being.
