OVERVIEW
The Wei Wai Kum First Nation Finance Department oversees a broad range of financial and accounting functions, including social assistance, member distributions, cash receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, property taxation, financial analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
These services support the Nation as well as a number of its entities, including House of Treasures, Netloft, Thunder RV Campsite, CRIBCO Forestry, Discovery Joint Venture, Exempt Tobacco Sales, and the Treaty negotiations.
Beyond everyday transactions, key deliverables include the annual audit, monthly financial updates to Council and program managers, and strategic recommendations that support the Nation in achieving its strategic objectives.
The Finance Department is committed to delivering the best possible service to all its stakeholders, including Nation Members, local businesses, band departments, and employees.
Transparency and openness are central to how we operate. Following the completion of the annual audit, Members are invited to meet with Finance staff to review the financials and ask questions. Members can also access key information anytime through the Members’ Portal, including audited financial statements from previous years, Nation policies, and other important resources.
